Periodontics

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry focused on the gums and bone that surround and support your teeth. Many people lose teeth from disease of the gums and bone even when they don’t have a cavity. After a proper assessment we will discuss measures to protect your gum and bone health.

Gingivitis and Periodontits

Gingivitis is the earliest form of gum disease. With gingivitis you may notice red, swollen, or bleeding gums. Early treatment of gingivitis can help prevent the onset of a deeper disease known as periodontitis.

Periodontitis occurs when plaque has spread below the gum line. As periodontitis progresses gums and bone melt away causing painful tooth loss and risk of heart failure too.

At Caldwell Dental Care, our goal is to make sure our patients leave our office knowing the status of their gum health. We make it a habit to check you regularly for symptoms of gum disease. Treatment should be started as soon as possible.

There are several early treatment options available, including:

Pinhole Technique | The pinhole technique is a surgical procedure used to address the receding of your gum line, and is an amazing alternative to gum grafting. The Pinhole Technique can often be done during the in one visit.
